![]() It was such a fire hazard our grill loving father and husbands wouldn’t go near it. The microwave did not work, the gas grill did not look like it had ever been cleaned/attended to. The flooring was lifting and, alternately, sinking in several rooms making leisurely walking around the house a very intentional task. One in the bathroom and one crawling up a bedroom wall literally 6 inches from where a pack and play was sitting. The kids got a good laugh out of that one! Two G-I-A-N-T (half dollar sized) cockroaches were seen as two of us were feeding babies in the middle of the night. The box spring in one of the twin beds in a lower level bedroom was broken and covered up with a piece of cardboard that eventually sank into it after small kids slept on it one night revealing itself to me (an adult) which looked like me sitting down on the end of the bed to talk with the kids only to nearly fall through as the mattress began sinking into the hole. One of the lower bedrooms had mold on the walls. Bed linens and towels were very old and had a strong mildew smell to them. There were sizable gaps at the tops of many of the doors and windows (likely due to settling) letting in the scorching afternoon heat daily making it incredibly hard to keep the home cool (AC was governed not to go below 72). The bottoms of several interior doors had wood rot. The exterior doors would not close/latch properly bothering us mostly in the evenings as we had 12 children under the age of 13 on our trip. We all know some homes photograph better and are sometimes a notch lower in person, but this has to be the biggest difference I’ve ever experienced, in that respect. To say we were disappointed with our stay would be an understatement. 20 of my closest family members and I traveled to NCI in July and stayed at the “highly acclaimed” VRBO “Big on the Beach” property. However, A LOT was wrong with this home and thus, here I am. I’m super easy to please on vacation because well, vacationing is supposed to be fun. Let me start by saying I’ve never written a review after a vacation in my life.
